What is Motorcycle Accident Victims?
Motorcycle Accident Victims (MAV) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1994 to help our fellow riders in their time of need. We hold two fundraisers a year to raise money so we can provide assistance.
I had a motorcycle accident, how do I go about getting assistance from MAV?
There are several ways you can contact MAV to get assistance. Our website has many options for you to get our help. Our website is
www.motorcycleaccidentvictims.org. On this website, you can contact the President through email, or a phone call. The claim form is also available on the website under the “Resources” link.
What information will I need to provide to be eligible for assistance?
We provide assistance to downed riders through no fault of your own. You must be legally operating the motorcycle with the proper endorsement if needed and insurance. In order to provide you with help, we typically will need a police report which will indicate you were not at fault for the accident. We also recommend, as with any accident, that you take pictures. Although we don’t require them, if you have them available, please send them to us. Also, we will need to know what type of assistance you are requesting (i.e. help with mortgage payment, electric bill, food, etc.).
What is the process for being eligible for assistance and how long does it take?
Once we receive all your documentation, the Board will have an emergency meeting to determine eligibility. If you have not provided a copy of the bill(s) you are asking us to pay, we will ask you to do that so we may forward a check to your creditor. The process moves very quickly once you are approved. You will be notified by our Claims Officer when you have been approved.
Am I required to pay the money back that I receive?
Although it is not a requirement to repay the money, we do ask that if you receive a settlement from the insurance company that you reimburse us so that we may continue to help others in their time of need.
I would like to volunteer at one of your events. How do I do that?
We always welcome volunteers! If you would like to volunteer, please email the President at
president@motorcycleaccidentvictims.org
Do you provide assistance all over the US?
Unfortunately, due to the small size of our organization, we currently provide assistance to riders in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
What type of financial assistance do you help with?
If approved, MAV will pay:
Mortgage/Electric/Phone bills
Provide gift cards for food
Car/bike insurance payments
Oil/Gas bills
Misc. expenses as approved
What type of bills don’t you pay?
MAV does not provide financial assistance to cover medical bills
Is there a limit to how much I can receive?
MAV has a $1000 cap for each claim.
